I swapped dry shampoo for micellar water - trolls say my hair looks greasy but I love it
WE’LL do anything to banish greasy roots and avoid yet another hair wash, but one expert’s new hack has divided opinion.
Hair pro Abbey Yung took to her TikTok page to show off a new hack to keep oily roots at bay - now she’s inviting everyone to give it a go.

Forget talcum powder and dry shampoo - Abbey decided to try patting micellar water on her head and was stunned by the results.
Abbey began by posing in front of her camera with her long locks loose and a bottle of Garnier Micellar Water held high above her head.
“Testing micellar water instead of dry shampoo hack…” she wrote.
First, Abbey held a large cotton pad in her hand and squeezed out some of the cleansing water.
“Soaking a cotton pad to apply with,” she added.
With the pad wet, Abbey stopped to show followers what her roots looked like before application.
She pointed the camera at her face and looked towards the ground to give people a good look at her scalp.
Then, cotton pad back in her hand, Abbey began dabbing it on her roots using stroking movements.

The water left her hair looking wet - but would it remove the oil?
Next she blow dried one half of her head and showed viewers the before and after result.
Looking down at the floor, Abbey wrote: “Wow! Definitely looks better and has zero residue or flat look like dry shampoo.”
The hair pro was clearly impressed by the hack she’d discovered, but other people weren’t as convinced that micellar water did her roots any good at all.
One user replied: “Wow! I see no difference.”
A second commented: “You used the most oily micellar water.”
But that didn’t bother Abbey, who responded: “Doesn’t feel oily to me.”
A third rude troll suggested: “Just wash it.”
But Abbey was having none of it.
“I wash 2x a week,” she said. “I’m just testing out a hack I saw to see if it works for me. No different than trying a new dry shampoo.”

There’s more products to choose from than micellar water. Abbey’s followers had plenty of suggestions to banish greasy roots in a flash.
These included talcum powder, witch hazel, corn starch and even waterproof make-up removal wipes.
