Payton takes back comments

Payton has since said he regrets the comments.

"Listen, I had one of those moments where I still had my Fox [network television] hat on and not my coaching hat on," he explained.

"I said this to the team: We've had a great offseason relative to that, I've been preaching that message, and here I am the veteran stepping in it. It was a learning experience for me, a mistake obviously. I need a little bit more filter."

"I needed a bit more restraint, I regret that."

Hackett fires back

"Obviously, [the] last week has been a very unique week for this organization," Hackett said.

"I've been involved in this business my whole life, 43 years. As a coach, as a coach's kid, we live in a glass house. We know that. We all live in different rooms, we all have a key for it.

"It's one of those things, there's a code, there's a way things are done in that house.

"This past week, it's frustrating and it sucks, but we're all susceptible to it, the things you do, the mistakes you make. It costs you time on the field, it costs you your job… all those things. And I own all that stuff. That's a fact. I've got no excuses."

Sean Payton took jab at former Broncos head coach

Veteran coach Sean Payton made headlines recently for his comments about Nathaniel Hackett.

Payton is now head coach of the Denver Broncos after two years away from the sport, while Hackett is the offensive coordinator with the New York Jets.

Hackett was head coach of the Broncos last year, but Payton isn't too happy with the job his predecessor did.

"It might have been one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL. That’s how bad it was," Payton told USA Today.

“Everything I heard about last season, we’re doing the opposite."

"I don’t know Hackett. A lot of people had dirt on their hands. It wasn’t just Russell. He didn’t just flip. He still has it. This B.S. that he hit a wall? Shoot, they couldn’t get a play in.

Wholesome friendship forming, continued

A stunned-looking Rodgers then had Gardner put it on him, before he hugged his teammate, thanking him for the surely high-priced gift.

This seems to have been in the work for some time, as in April, Gardner tweeted: "Me & AL got something for ARod."

And Twitter was swiftly filled with comments from fans loving every second of their growing bromance.

"Aaron Rodgers continues to get younger and younger bf our eyes," one user said.

While one joked: "This is too awesome and wholesome. The phrase "I can't even" finally makes sense #TakeFlight"

As one added: "He hasn't looked this happy in half a decade."

Wholesome friendship forming

An unexpected bromance has been forming in New York Jets locker room.

All-Pro cornerback Ahmad 'Sauce' Gardner, 22, and four-time NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers, 39, appear to be becoming the best of friends.

Further evidence of this bond came in a recent video released by the Jets' social media team, showing Gardner handing Rodgers an incredible personalized gift.

Gardner explained to Rodgers that he is his "jeweler's favorite quarterback."

He went on to add that Al the Jeweler, who is known as a jeweler to the stars, "wanted to cook up something special for you. He brought the idea to me, I said I think it would be a good idea."

The gift in question turned out to be an iced-out No. 8 - Rodgers' new number since signing with the Jets.

Inside Aaron Rodgers' trade to the New York Jets, continued

Rodgers continued: "I haven’t been holding anything up. At this point, it’s been compensation that the Packers are trying to get for me, kind of digging their heels in.

"I think it is interesting at this point to step back and look at the whole picture.

"I still have that fire and I want to play and I would like to play in New York, it’s just a matter of getting that done at this point."
